About Oris
Oris SA is an independent Swiss watch manufacturer headquartered in Hölstein in the canton of Basel-Landschaft. Founded in 1904 by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian, the company produces exclusively mechanical watches in the fields of diving, culture, aviation and motorsport, including the Big Crown, Aquis, Divers, ProPilot and Artelier collections. Oris develops its own movements, such as Calibre 581 with a moonphase module, or the Worldtimer introduced in 1997 with a patented function indicator. Every watch is tested before leaving the factory in Hölstein; a dedicated Service Center offers partial and full service as well as warranty extensions. Historical value creation included in-house escapement, dial and electroplating operations as well as the development of its own machines and tools. The red rotor has been a registered trademark since 2002; since 2003 there has been a partnership with the Williams Formula 1 team.
