About Riedel Orthopaedics
Riedel Orthopaedics is a family-run craft business based in Bayreuth that has been manufacturing and fitting orthopaedic aids for over 115 years. Its range of services includes custom orthoses, prostheses, orthopaedic bespoke shoes, shoe modifications and custom-made insoles, including 3D-printed insoles from its own insole manufactory. Gait and motion analysis is used for treatment planning. The manufacturing offering is complemented by a medical supply store with bandages, compression care and consultation. Around 50 skilled professionals from orthopaedic technology, orthopaedic shoemaking, medical supply retail and shoe retail work at 10 locations in northern Bavaria. Production is carried out as one-off custom manufacture based on measurement and analysis of the individual foot or body anatomy; for insoles, the company relies on additive manufacturing with shorter lead times and virtually waste-free material use.
