About Shou Sugi Ban Austria
The OSM Handel- und Service GmbH operates in the market as Shou Sugi Ban Austria and, since 2014, has specialized in one craft: the charring of wood surfaces according to the traditional Japanese Yakisugi method for facade cladding. Every board is charred by hand at defined temperatures, brushed and sealed with a glaze developed for outdoor use in the company's own workshop in Ilz (Styria). The raw materials used are high-quality sawn timber from professional suppliers in Styria as well as cedar; offered charring intensities range from light (700 °C) through medium (850 °C) to maximum charring (1000 °C). The company supports projects from consulting and planning through sample delivery and the supply of prefabricated boards to facade installation by certified installers. More than 400 completed facades and over 40 architecture partners document the company's work in residential, object and architectural construction in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
