About Ottakringer Brauerei
Ottakringer Brauerei AG is an independent large brewery in Vienna's 16th district, Ottakring, and the last remaining large brewery in Vienna. Founded in 1837 by master miller Heinrich Plank, the company was expanded into a large brewery by the Kuffner family from 1850 and is today owned by the Wenckheim, Menz, Trauttenberg and Pfusterschmid families. The product range includes beers such as Ottakringer Helles, Goldfassl, Zwickl, Null Komma Josef (alcohol-free), Bock, Dunkles and Radler as well as canned beer under the name 16er Blech; mineral water is distributed via the sister company Vöslauer Mineralwasser AG. Since 1989 the brewery has used green shoulder bottles, and since 1997, as the first Austrian brewery, twist-off closures. In addition to beverage production, the site serves as an event venue, offers brewery tours and operates an online shop for beer and merchandise. The brewery has long sponsored the football club SK Rapid Wien and, since 2021, has been a co-founder of the Association of Independent Private Breweries of Austria.
