About Pharma-Zentrum-Bonn

The Pharma-Zentrum-Bonn (PZB) is a cross-faculty center of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn founded in 2008. It pools the expertise of 29 members from three faculties in the field of drug research, in particular from Pharmaceutical & Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology & Toxicology, Pharmaceutical Biology and Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Technology, and Structural Biology. The PZB sees itself as a platform for scientific exchange and as an interface between basic research and clinical application ("from bench to bedside"). It promotes translational drug research, coordinates research consortia and funding applications, and runs BIGS-DrugS, an interdisciplinary graduate school for early-career academics. Interaction with the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, including Bayer AG (doctoral awards), takes place on an equal footing. The center is not a manufacturing company; it is located at three sites in Bonn.
