About PHENOGY
PHENOGY was founded in 2019 and is headquartered in Root near Lucerne in Switzerland. The company develops and manufactures battery storage systems based on sodium-ion technology, offered as air- and liquid-cooled modules in cabinet and container designs for commercial and industrial use. The systems are used, among other things, for self-consumption optimization, peak shaving, backup power supply, arbitrage trading and in micro-grids. The product family includes PY.FLUX, a SiC-based Active Voltage Regulator for optimizing low-voltage grids, as well as the storage series PHENOGY 1.0, 1.1 and 2.1. Sodium-ion storage systems tolerate a wider temperature range than conventional lithium-ion batteries (specified as -20 °C to +40 °C) and are considered less susceptible to thermal runaway. In 2025, PHENOGY commissioned Europe's first large-scale sodium-ion storage system in Bremen; series production is to be established with the partner HDAT. According to its own statements, the company holds around 60 patents for energy storage solutions and serves customers ranging from commercial businesses and industrial parks to hospitals and data centers, as well as utilities, agriculture, e-mobility and military/authorities.

Technologies & Processes
Sodium-ion
Cell technology of the battery storage systems with high fire safety, wide temperature range and reduced dependence on critical minerals such as lithium and cobalt.
Silicon carbide
Basis of the power electronics in the PY.FLUX Active Voltage Regulator for active voltage and current balancing.
Copper
Material for cables and lines, the use of which in conventional grid reinforcement is reduced by PY.FLUX.
