About Polsterbräu
Polsterbräu is a beer brand founded in 1858 by Michael Polster ('Wirts-Michl') in Nankendorf in the Franconian Switzerland region (Upper Franconia). Beer was brewed in Nankendorf until 1974; in 1971 output reached approximately 33,000 hectolitres, with gastronomy supplied using the brewery's own beer truck. After a 44-year hiatus, the beers were produced again from 2015 by a contract brewery in Upper Franconia according to the preserved original recipes – without flash pasteurisation, with seven days of cold fermentation and at least six weeks of cold conditioning. The sales offering includes the brand rights, the domain polsterbraeu.de, five original recipes (Helles, Gülden Pils, Ur-Märzen, Doppelbock, Nährtrunk) as well as extensive residual inventory (beer crates, bottles, draft systems, advertising materials). At the end of 2025, operations were discontinued, among other things as a result of the consequences of COVID-19; the complete offering is available for €50,000 (recipes only €25,000), collection point is Herrenberg.
