About Portawin
Portawin is a window and door manufacturer based in Essen that originated from a carpentry workshop in Essen city centre and looks back on a tradition of more than 100 years. At the Ernestine industrial estate (Essen-Frillendorf), wooden windows, plastic windows, wood-aluminium windows, interior doors as well as interior fittings and built-in elements are manufactured on the company's own production systems, tailored to specific projects. The materials include wood, plastic (PVC) and aluminium. The company combines planning, production and installation under one roof: a team of technicians and engineers handles data capture, CAD preparation and coordination with architects and building owners, followed by manufacturing and nationwide installation. Portawin products are used, among other things, in administrative buildings, schools, hospitals, kindergartens, senior and residential homes as well as large-scale housing projects; reference customers include the Federal Ministry of Research in Bonn, the UN Campus Bonn, Fraport Frankfurt Airport, Düsseldorf Airport as well as several universities and clinics. All window types carry the RAL quality mark including installation. Sustainability is pursued through the company's own photovoltaic system, which covers on average more than 85% of the electricity demand of production and administration.
