Prager & Schweers GmbH Werkzeug- und Maschinenbau is a contract manufacturer based in Meerane (Saxony), in operation since 1992, specializing in single-part and small-batch production. The company machines stainless steel, brass, castings, aluminium and plastics. Its manufacturing capabilities include CNC milling in 3-axis and 5-axis processes, cycle-controlled turning, wire EDM, precision surface grinding, lapping-blasting of aluminium, and heat treatment (annealing and hardening). The process chain also includes sawing, drilling and CAD/CAM programming with Mastercam (milling) and PEPS (EDM); DXF, DWG, IGES and STEP files can be processed. Using Carl Zeiss 3D metrology and a digital height gauge, ongoing production and quality inspections are documented at every production stage. Customers come from toolmaking, mechanical engineering as well as maintenance and spare parts manufacturing; in the event of breakdowns, the company offers expedited manufacturing to avoid downtime of machinery and equipment. The machine fleet comprises nine CNC machining centres from Mikron and Deckel Maho, two lathes and two wire EDM machines from ONA.

Single-part and small-batch production on nine machining centres from Mikron and Deckel Maho, including a 5-axis milling centre Mikron UCP 800 DURO.
Cycle-controlled turning
Cycle-controlled turning technology for single parts and small batches up to 900 mm distance between centres.
Wire EDM
Precision cutting with 0.25 mm wire and taper angles up to ±30°; workpieces up to 1000 x 810 x 400 mm and 3000 kg.
Precision surface grinding
Surface grinding up to 600 x 300 mm for tight tolerances and fine surfaces.
Heat treatment
Annealing and hardening in the Nabertherm furnace N 41-K (combustion chamber 350 x 500 x 250 mm).
Lapping-blasting
Blasting of aluminium on a working surface of 740 x 470 mm.
