About Primus Oberflächentechnik
Primus Oberflächentechnik GmbH und Co. KG is a contract electroplating shop based in Schwäbisch Hall, founded in 2009. The company specializes in corrosion and wear protection coatings for metal surfaces, in particular anodizing (coating thicknesses 5–25 µm), hard anodizing/hard coating (20–80 µm, up to 600 HV) and electroless nickel, also for optical functional surfaces. As a preliminary step, workpieces are cleaned, deburred, matted or smoothed in a semi-automatic glass bead blasting system. The maximum component size in the electroplating baths is 2000 x 1400 x 500 mm; production ranges from small series to recurring quantities of several thousand pieces. An in-house laboratory with chemical analysis, metallography and pilot electroplating monitors all process parameters; all production steps through to the finished coating are carried out at the company's own plant. Customers include companies from mechanical engineering, the automotive industry, medical technology, aerospace as well as electrical engineering, and they are supplied throughout Europe.

Materials and Processes
Aluminium alloys
A broad spectrum from Al99.8 to AlMgZnCu alloys is anodized and hard anodized, functionally or decoratively.
Anodizing (anodic oxidation)
Anodic oxidation with coating thicknesses of 5–25 µm for corrosion, insulation and wear protection.
Hard anodizing (hard coating)
Oxidation in the low temperature range with high current density, coating thicknesses 20–80 µm, up to 600 HV.
Electroless nickel
Corrosion protection for metal components, also varied for optical functional surfaces.
Glass bead blasting
Mechanical pre-treatment for cleaning, deburring, matting and smoothing before anodizing.
