About Privatbrauerei Waldhaus
The Privatbrauerei Waldhaus Joh. Schmid GmbH was founded in 1833 at the Waldhaus forester's lodge in the Southern Black Forest Nature Park and remains in private ownership of the Schmid family to this day. At its Weilheim (Waldhaus) site, located around 800 meters above sea level, the company brews beer specialties such as Pils and Doppel Bock and, according to its own statements, relies on the use of natural hops instead of hop extract or hop pellets. In 2015, a logistics center measuring 4,600 m² with a volume of 50,800 m³ was added to handle the annual output of approximately 100,000 hl. In addition to the brewery and administration, the brewery premises include a shop, a logistics center, and an adjoining inn with a beer garden. The beer specialties have been awarded more than 1,200 medals.
