proFagus Food Solutions GmbH was founded in 2022 as a startup by Arbonium Technologies GmbH in Bodenfelde and produces aromas based on beech wood. The raw material beech wood has been processed and refined at the main site in Bodenfelde for over 130 years. In addition to the large-scale industrial facilities of the proFagus GmbH biorefinery, the company has focused on the requirements of the food and flavor industry. In the retort process of dry distillation, thermal pyrolysis converts beech wood into charcoal with a high carbon content as well as extracts such as gases, acids and beech wood tar, which are refined into acetic acid, tar oil, grit and Pure Smoke® smoke aromas. As a manufacturer of the EU-approved primary smoke condensates SF-001 and SF-008, the company offers flexible, customer-specific formulations for refining finished products of the food and flavor industry. The administration is located at Robert-Bosch-Str. 7 in Northeim.
