About REWA Stralsund

The Regional Water and Wastewater Company Stralsund GmbH (REWA) is a subsidiary of Stadtwerke Stralsund and was founded in 1992 as the successor to Nordwasser GmbH. The company operates the public drinking water supply in the Hanseatic city of Stralsund and in 25 towns and municipalities in the district of Vorpommern-Rügen, supplying around 85,500 people. The drinking water is extracted from underground water sources (groundwater) in ten waterworks and distributed via more than 700 kilometers of pipelines. Wastewater disposal is carried out via 23 sewage treatment plants, including the Stralsund sewage treatment plant with an expansion capacity of 120,000 population equivalents. The service portfolio also includes fecal sludge removal, sewer and pipe cleaning, camera runs with TV inspections, pressure and leak tests, and house connections for drinking and wastewater. Since 2023, the company has been conducting its own investigation strategy for PFAS in drinking water that goes beyond the legal requirements. The company is headquartered at Bauhofstraße 5 in Stralsund.
