About REPS
REPS-Tirol GmbH develops and installs energy harvesting systems that convert the kinetic energy of braking vehicles into electrical energy. The core product is a 12 × 3 meter road slab with 27 hydraulic trigger pairs, embedded in a 12.5 cm civil foundation layer of steel or concrete. The vertical force is transmitted via hydraulic lines to a central energy converter module based on permanent magnetic bearings, which operates almost friction-free. The generated energy is stored in battery storage systems and can be used for charging infrastructure, operating facilities, or grid feed-in. Areas of application are sections with braking traffic such as traffic lights, toll stations, and motorway exits, especially in ports, terminals, and logistics hubs. Founded in 2023 and headquartered in Mils in Tyrol, the company installed the world's first operational road power plant in the Port of Hamburg in November 2025.
