About RG Mechatronics
RG Mechatronics GmbH was founded in 2008 as a spin-off from German aerospace research and was based in Seefeld near Munich. The company's purpose comprised the development, industrial manufacture and distribution of electromechanical actuator systems. From 2012, the company presented first prototypes of a medical robotic system developed for minimally invasive surgery as well as for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. A central approach was a novel human-machine interface, for example for use in the operating room, with the aim of reducing the time and cost of minimally invasive procedures through intelligent manipulators. In 2013, the company opened a branch office at the BioPark Regensburg to advance the development of medical robotic systems; in the same year a patent application was filed. In 2014, the company was acquired by ABB and renamed ABB gomtec GmbH. Its clients included, among others, ABB.
