About us
Rombach Holzwerk GmbH is a sawmill and planing mill that has existed since 1885 in Schonach in the Central Black Forest at 870 m above sea level. The family-run company is managed in its fourth generation and produces sawn timber, solid structural timber (KVH), planed products, moon-phase timber and residual woods. Softwood species such as spruce, fir, Douglas fir, pine, Weymouth pine and larch are processed, in part also lime wood; the fine-grained roundwood comes from the high altitudes of the Central Black Forest (700 to 1,100 m). In addition to sawing, the value chain includes numerous further processing services: finger jointing, planing and chamfering, drying, impregnation, cutting to length, profile milling, equalizing, labelling, foil wrapping and IPPC heat treatment for export packaging. The solid structural timber is produced in lengths of up to 14.80 m and is subject to continuous monitoring by the Material Testing Institute (MPA) with C24 performance consistency. Customers come from timber construction, carpentry and joinery, the packaging industry, the firewood trade and the funeral sector (coffin boards).
