About us
Rowema AG is a Swiss ropeway engineering company based in Dübendorf. As the legitimate successor to GMD, founded in 1947 by ropeway pioneer Gerhard Müller, the company manufactures ski lifts, surface lifts, chairlifts, fixed-grip group lifts as well as detachable ropeway systems including its own rope grips. All engineering and design of the ropeway systems is done in-house using modern design and simulation software; the majority of components are manufactured locally in the company's own production hall, with workstations for assembly, welding and maintenance. Steel processing and general metalwork are part of the service portfolio. In addition to manufacturing new installations, Rowema offers consulting from conception to commissioning as well as maintenance of ropeway components including wear-part replacement, surface protection and non-destructive testing (NDT) with certification. Customers include mountain railways, tourism destinations and eco-tourism projects worldwide.
