About Sachtleben Minerals
Sachtleben Minerals is the parent company of the production firms Sachtleben Bergbau, Fluoritwerke Erzgebirge and Deutsche Baryt-Industrie and markets barite and fluorite products. The company sees itself as a partner for the reliable supply of industrial minerals, in particular barium sulfate (baryte/barite) and calcium fluoride (fluorite). In the processing plants of Deutsche Baryt-Industrie in Bad Lauterberg, fine natural barium sulfates such as Albawhite 110 and Albasoft 110 are produced from pre-sorted barite concentrates. Modern grinding processes and a specific post-treatment enable a particle size distribution with a mean particle diameter (d50) of approx. 1.0 µm and a top cut of approx. 3.0 µm at a BaSO4 content of around 98 %. These products are a technically equivalent and more sustainable alternative to synthetically produced barium sulfates (blanc fixe) and are characterized by high brightness, low electrical conductivity and low abrasivity. Customer industries include, among others, paints and coatings, powder coatings, pigment preparations, adhesives and sealants, as well as plastics and composites. The group operates sites in Hausach, Wolfach/Oberwolfach, Bad Lauterberg and Aue/Niederschlag.

Materials and Processes
Barium sulfate (barite/baryte)
A widely applicable filler, among other things for paints and coatings, due to its high density, chemical stability and brightness.
Calcium fluoride (fluorite)
Industrial mineral marketed by the Sachtleben Minerals group.
Natural barium sulfate, finely ground
High brightness, increases opacity and gloss, suitable for topcoats, powder coating systems, pigment preparations and plastics.
Natural, post-treated barium sulfate
Specialty for replacing synthetic barium sulfates in applications with high requirements for brightness and gloss.
Grinding and specific post-treatment of barite
Modern grinding processes enable tightly distributed, fine products with a d50 of approx. 1.0 µm without chemical conversion.

Quality
The particle size distribution of the products is determined with a Cilas 920 laser diffraction measuring device; the specifications are determined according to DIN EN ISO standards (including ISO 787, ISO 3262-2). The group operates an environmental management system according to DIN EN ISO 14001.
