About us

SAHM Feinwerktechnik GmbH, based in Wetzlar-Nauborn, specializes in the design and production of precision-engineered precision assemblies. The production program includes iris diaphragms as well as setting-up and measuring microscopes and individually developed optical components, assemblies and precision-engineering systems. The core element of the iris diaphragms are blades made of hardened spring steel with a burnished surface, or made of stainless chromium-nickel steel for higher heat resistance. The cutting edges of the blades are smoothed in an elaborate burnishing/grinding process; a special burnishing process provides maximum corrosion protection, and a subsequent coating improves the sliding properties. The housings are made of corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy and decoratively anodized in matte black. According to the company, the products have proven themselves thousands of times in use worldwide, including under extreme climatic and operating conditions, particularly in opto-electronics, laser and medical technology, and lighting technology.
