About Salomon Wines
Salomon Wines comprises the Weingut Salomon Undhof in Stein an der Donau (Krems) as well as Salomon Estate in the Finniss River Valley in South Australia. The Undhof is one of the oldest private wineries in Austria; since 1792, white wines with fine minerality have been produced there from terraced vineyard sites along the Danube, above all dry Rieslings and Grüner Veltliners. In 1932, the first estate-bottled wine in Austria was produced, and by the late 1930s exports reached as far as the USA. In the mid-1990s, the Salomon family acquired 50 hectares of land in South Australia and planted around 15 hectares of vineyards; the first harvest of the cool-climate region took place in 1998. The range includes Erste Lage wines, village and regional wines, sweet wines, rosé, pomace brandies, olive oil and apricot jam. The family business is run by twins Fanny-Marie and Bert Salomon in the ninth generation.
