About the Salzburger Sand- und Kieswerke
The Salzburger Sand- und Kieswerke (SSK) were founded in 1971 and are a family-owned company based in Salzburg/Kasern. The company extracts and processes mineral raw materials such as sand, gravel, chippings and stone, and produces ready-mix concrete from them, including architectural concrete, white concrete, coloured concrete, shotcrete, power plant concrete, inner shell concrete and special concretes such as SSK XXL concrete. The value chain covers raw material extraction in its own gravel plants and the Scheffau quarry, processing, concrete production in 13 ready-mix concrete plants, logistics with its own vehicle fleet including concrete pumps, and the acceptance and processing of construction waste in the first recycling plant in Salzburg. Customers are found in structural and civil engineering, road construction, power plants and tunnels, agriculture, residential construction and design and architecture; reference projects include Red Bull, the KTM parts centre and the Salzburg State Hospital. Raw material and concrete quality is continuously checked in in-house and external laboratories, complemented by mobile laboratory vehicles directly on the construction site. Since 2025, SSK has been part of the RUDIMENTUM umbrella brand.
