Samsung SDI Battery Systems GmbH is part of the Samsung SDI family and operates at the Kalsdorf bei Graz and Premstätten sites in Styria. The company develops, tests and industrializes high-performance lithium-ion battery packs for hybrid, plug-in hybrid and pure electric vehicles, ranging from passenger cars and trucks to light commercial vehicles. At the development, industrialization and test center in Kalsdorf bei Graz, occupied in 2022, 75 test channels for batteries, their components and software tests as well as two floors of modern testing and PT facilities are available, including battery test benches for charging and discharging with grid feed-in. The battery packs are fully tailored to customers' requirements and specifications. Since the start of battery development in 2007 and the first series production in 2009, the company has accompanied products from development through to series support. In 2025, 110 patents were filed by employees from various departments.
