SANDRIER GmbH, based in Eggersdorf near Graz, develops hygienic electric hand dryers that also function as air purifiers. The device combines jet drying with patented filter technology: a HEPA-14 filter and UV light prevent bacteria and viruses from being released back into the ambient air during hand drying. An air quality sensor automatically detects when the ambient air needs to be filtered, allowing the device to be used as a standalone air purifier. The technology includes a quiet BLDC motor, real-time environmental sensing with cloud integration (IoT), and a patented chamber design that enables hand rubbing. On September 19, 2024, the European Unitary Patent EP4231885 was registered. Target applications are in particular medical facilities as well as public and commercial washrooms; according to life cycle analyses, the CO2 footprint is around 4 to 5 times lower than that of paper towels.
