About Saphenus Medical Technology
Saphenus Medical Technology develops the SURALIS Conversion Kit sensory feedback system for prosthesis wearers with above-knee and below-knee amputations. The system consists of a patented sensor sock with five sensors, a wireless transmitter with an ultra-low-power radio link, and an actuator unit with a silicone pad or cuff that transmits gait information non-invasively to the stump as vibration patterns. In this way, peripheral sensitivity is regained, which, according to the manufacturer, increases gait stability and reduces phantom pain. The system can be fitted over any type of prosthetic foot. The product is marketed as a medical device and has been reimbursed by several German health insurers since April 2024; in Germany, Uniprox has been active as a distribution partner since September 2024. The company operates in medical technology and orthopaedic technology and presents itself at trade fairs such as OT-World in Leipzig and I.S.P.O. in Stockholm.
