About ScaleWings
ScaleWings Aircraft is an Austrian aircraft manufacturer based in Straßwalchen that produces the SW-51 Mustang – a 70% replica of the legendary North American P-51 Mustang fighter aircraft. The aircraft is designed as an ultralight, light-sport aircraft and homebuilt aircraft (kit build) and is delivered both as a ready-to-fly aircraft and as a kit for amateur construction. The structure is made entirely of carbon-fiber composite; fuselage and wings are manufactured in female molds, with detail features such as rivets and screws integrated directly into the mold. Depending on the variant, the aircraft is powered by Rotax engines (including the 916iS with turbocharging, 160 hp). The design, originally produced as the FK51 Mustang by FK-Lightplanes in Krosno (Poland), was presented at AERO Friedrichshafen in 2013 and flew for the first time in October 2014; after production ended at FK-Lightplanes, ScaleWings took over production and developed new variants (S-LSA, Experimental, Ultralight 600 kg). Customers can choose equipment such as a glass cockpit, leather upholstery and individual paint schemes; a global service network supports operators worldwide.
