About Scantinel Photonics
Scantinel Photonics GmbH, based in Ulm, develops FMCW LiDAR sensor technology based on a LiDAR-on-chip solution at 1550 nm wavelength. The technology achieves a detection range of over 300 meters and is designed for mass production. At the core of the solution is photonic integration on a silicon wafer platform, in which lasers, detectors and the majority of optical components are integrated. This eliminates error-prone assembly and calibration steps and enables a compact form factor as well as low unit costs at high volumes. The coherent distance measurement captures distance and velocity simultaneously per pixel and is insensitive to sunlight and foreign LiDAR. Target industries are automotive and autonomous driving. For its photonic integration components, Scantinel uses established, mass-production-ready manufacturing processes, including processes based on standard CMOS technology.
