About the Schlaun-Forum

Schlaun-Forum e. V. is a registered association based in Münster that, since the winter semester 2011/2012, has annually announced the Schlaun competitions as idea competitions in North Rhine-Westphalia. The aim of the initiative is to promote young planners in the fields of urban planning, landscape planning, architecture and civil engineering, and to develop future-oriented planning tasks for urban and landscape spaces in NRW. The competitions follow the Rules for Architectural Competitions (RAW 2004) and are conducted anonymously via the internet; eligible to participate are students from the 5th semester onwards as well as graduates up to 35 years of age. The name honours the Westphalian-Lippe Baroque master builder Johann Conrad Schlaun (1695–1773), who is regarded as a model of integrated planning. The Forum emerged from the MAIV and cooperates with local architects' and engineers' associations, the BDA, BDLA, BDB as well as the chambers of architects and engineers in NRW. Implementation is carried out by the Schlaun Committee; all participants contribute on a voluntary basis.
