About Schlossbrauerei Ebersberg
The Schlossbrauerei Ebersberg brews beer according to the Bavarian Purity Law in the historic monastery buildings at Schlossplatz 4 in Ebersberg (Upper Bavaria). First documented in 1400, when Duke Ernst granted the Ebersberg monastery the Leutgeb and serving rights on St. Matthew's Day, brewing operations were discontinued in 1974 and resumed on St. Matthew's Day 2019 by the descendants of the Schmederer brewing family. Currently produced is Schlossbräu Hell, a classic Helles in the Munich brewing style with 11,2°P original wort and 4,9 % Vol. alcohol, made from the four ingredients hops, malt, yeast and soft brewing water. The beer is distributed via beverage retailers and food retail in the Ebersberg region of Upper Bavaria, including EDEKA, REWE, Korn Biomarkt and ANDERL Getränkemarkt. Administration and the brewhouse are located in the former monastery building, which has been referred to as a castle since its takeover by the Order of Malta in 1781.
