About Schlossbrauerei Reuth

Schlossbrauerei Reuth GmbH is a small traditional brewery in Reuth near Erbendorf in the Upper Palatinate. Its origins date back to the mid-15th century, when initially only beer for Reuth Castle was produced; in 1742 three taverns in the surrounding area were supplied for the first time. Today the product range comprises eleven beer varieties – including Lager Hell, Pils, Weissbier, Landbier, naturally cloudy Zoigl, seasonal Bockbier, Spezial-Trunk and an organically brewed Öko-Lager – as well as lemonades, juices and spritzers. The beer is brewed according to the Bavarian Reinheitsgebot (purity law) of 1516 using the raw materials hops, malt and yeast, which are sourced directly from regional producers; the brewing water comes from the company's own 60-meter-deep Artesia mineral water spring. The beers are served in numerous establishments within a radius of roughly 100 kilometers; there is also an own beverage retail outlet. Since 1998, Reuther Bier has been a protected geographical indication (PGI) of the EU, and the main beer varieties have been produced 100% from renewable energy in a CO2-neutral manner since 2012.
