About Schlossbrauerei Stein
Schlossbrauerei Stein Wiskott GmbH & Co. KG is a private brewery documented since 1489, located in Stein an der Traun in the Chiemgau region (Upper Bavaria). With a tradition spanning more than 530 years, the brewery produces beer and organic beer specialties as well as non-alcoholic beverages (Radler and Kracherl); output in 2010 was around 60,000 hl of beer and approx. 20,000 hl of non-alcoholic beverages. The beer matures in the historic rock cellar, and the electricity for beer production is generated in the company's own hydroelectric power plant. Ecologically certified beers are produced to the Naturland standard (DE-ÖKO-001). The bottling facility also bottles beers of the Klosterbrauerei Baumburg on a contract basis; the brewery is a member of the cooperation association Brauring. In addition to production, the company operates the Steiner Bräustüberl tavern, offers brewery and castle tours, and supplies innkeepers, retailers and alpine huts in the German market.
