Schmedes Industrie- und Handelsausrüstungsgesellschaft mbH is a family-owned business founded in 1986, headquartered in the Fishery Port of Bremerhaven with a production site in Westerkappeln near Osnabrück. In Westerkappeln, films made from pure, food-grade LDPE are produced on 5 blown film lines and 4 converting lines – from blown extrusion to the conversion of tubular and flat films as well as bags with widths of 40 to 1000 mm and thicknesses of 30 to 250 µm. In Bremerhaven, vegetable edible oils are filled into IBCs in batches of 1,000 to 25,000 liters on a conveying and filling line; in addition, the company offers storage, repacking, labeling and order picking on approximately 6,200 m². Every year, Schmedes supplies around 15,000 to 20,000 pallets of packaging materials to approximately 200 customers from industry and trade, in particular the fish, meat and poultry processing industry as well as the bakery sector. The portfolio is complemented by breading systems and ingredients (among others as sales representative for Kerry Ingredients and Flavours) as well as storage and packaging technology.
