About Schmidt

SCHMIDT Küchen GmbH, headquartered in Nohfelden (Saarland), is the German subsidiary of Schmidt Groupe, a German-French manufacturer of custom-made kitchens, cabinet systems, living furniture and bathroom furniture. The group manufactures in six plants in France and Germany; the product range includes kitchens, walk-in closets, living and cabinet furniture as well as bathrooms, all produced to the exact millimetre – every order is individually assembled. Manufacturing comprises furniture production on assembly lines (in Türkismühle since 2004, with made-to-measure versions), worktops in laminate, solid wood, ceramic, quartz or stainless steel, as well as hand-crafted wood finishes in over 600 variants. Materials used include melamine, laminate, MDF, solid wood, glass, ceramic, Cristalplant and brass; the majority of the wood comes from PEFC-certified forests. Customers include private consumers as well as retail, offices and the hotel and catering industry. The group produces around 800 kitchens per day, is present in 25 countries and serves its customers through a network of 565 stores.

Quality and Certification

The group is certified according to ISO 9001 (since 1998, as the first French kitchen manufacturer) and ISO 50001. Products are tested for robustness among other things through laboratory tests on handle coatings, durable hanging systems (up to 160 kg per cabinet) and foot systems (up to 200 kg per foot); warranties cover 10 years on furniture parts and 25 years on hinges and pull-outs.

1959
On 6 July, Cuisines Schmidt settles in Lièpvre and begins production of the Heidi buffet.
1975
Cuisines Schmidt brings cabinet elements to market; first catalogue with the Standard, Prestige and Classic models.
1986
Conversion to information technology and founding of a branch in England.
1998
SALM receives ISO 9001 quality certification as the first French kitchen manufacturer.
2004
The Sélestat site is enlarged; new assembly line in Türkismühle allowing made-to-measure versions; launch of made-to-measure built-in furniture and wall-unit range.
