The Schminkbar – wellness oases between beauty, bar and café

Schminkbar (Schweiz) AG operates five cosmetics and beauty salons in Zurich, Basel, Lucerne and Winterthur. Founded in 2003 by make-up artist Bea Petri, the company offers treatments in the areas of manicure, pedicure, facials, hair removal, massages, Japanese Head Spa as well as hair and make-up. A unique selling point is the combination of beauty and gastronomy: during treatments, the stores serve prosecco, tea, coffee or light meals, and the ambiance is inspired by Bali and Morocco. The offering also includes a Kids Beauty Corner, corporate events and bachelorette parties, an online shop with in-house creations such as hand cream and tea tree oil stick, as well as its own cosmetics school. The stores on Zurich's Bahnhofstrasse (with terrace and quiet atmosphere for massages), on Zurich's Beatengasse (original flagship store with an event focus), in Basel (new opening June 2025 at Gerbergasse 66), in Lucerne's Neustadt quarter and at Winterthur's Bahnhofplatz serve private customers. Since the generational change in 2016, daughters Lia and Kim Petri and son-in-law Marc Rotter have been running the family business in its second generation.

History of the Schminkbar

2003
Bea Petri opened the first Schminkbar on Beatengasse in Zurich together with her daughters Kim and Lia.
2008
Bea Petri begins her commitment to NAS Mode in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, in cooperation with Swisscontact.
2012
Bea Petri receives the BWA Veuve Clicquot Business Award as Entrepreneur of the Year.
2016
Handover of the Schminkbar to daughters Lia and Kim and son-in-law Marc Rotter (generational change).
