About the Schokoladerie de Prie
The Schokoladerie de Prie was an artisanal chocolate manufacturer from Rostock, founded in 2005 by Ullrich Deprie at Rostock's Stadthafen (city harbor). The company produced handmade chocolates and pralines and, starting in 2016, produced its own chocolate couvertures in a bean-to-bar process from organically certified cocoa beans. In 2017 an own coffee roastery was added at the Rostock-Schmarl site, where production had been located since 2013 in the former ferry house. The products were sold through a network of branches under the name Schokoladenhaus (Chocolate House) in Warnemünde, Stralsund, Güstrow, Schwerin and Rostock as well as through take-away sales; the company also took part in national trade fairs such as Anuga, Grüne Woche (Green Week) and Internorga and was preparing a listing in food retail. Awards include the Existenzgründerpreis (start-up prize) of the Ostseezeitung (2008), 3rd place at the German Chocolate Masters (2010) and the Süßer Stern in Gold (2011). In 2020, the e.K. was converted into a GmbH; in 2023 the founder stepped down as managing director and sold his partnership shares.
