Schüngel metal systems gmbh is a metalworking company founded in 1990 and headquartered in Altenburg (Thuringia), specialising in roof and façade systems made of metal. The company creates complete building envelopes from individual components such as standing seam elements (Kalzip), trapezoidal sheet metal, sandwich panels, green roofs, façade and aluminium cassettes. The value chain ranges from production planning and project management, through in-house manufacturing with laser cutting, waterjet cutting, sheet metal working (bending, welding) and powder coating, to installation by the company's own installation teams as well as service and maintenance. The main materials processed are aluminium and steel/steel sheet, partly also aluminium composite panels. Reference projects include the Museum of Bavarian History in Regensburg, the Volkswagen wind tunnel in Wolfsburg, the BMW plant in Leipzig, as well as projects in Central America, Turkmenistan, Africa and Qatar. The company is a member of the Thuringia Metal Trade Association and was awarded 3rd place in the 2026 Kalzip Award for sustainable construction.
