The Grünhorn Group

The Grünhorn Group was founded in 2020 by Stefan Fritsch in Leipzig and comprises several companies along the value chain for medical cannabis. The group includes Grünhorn Apotheke as an online mail-order pharmacy, canymed GmbH as a pharmaceutical wholesaler (§52a AMG) and manufacturer of medical cannabis products (§13 AMG), and Schurer Pharma & Kosmetik GmbH (SPK) as a fulfillment and logistics service provider based at Permoserstraße 19 in Leipzig. SPK handles storage, picking, packaging and shipping for pharmacies that carry cannabis. CanDoc is a digital service platform for telemedical services. In 2023, before partial legalization, Grünhorn Apotheke filled every fourth medical cannabis prescription in Germany; according to the company, the annual dispensing volume is approx. 4–5 tonnes of cannabis. The group carries over 100 flower varieties and 60 extracts and capsules, operates an in-house laboratory, its own research into terpenes and active ingredients, and the Grünhorn Academy for continuing education.

2. 2023

   Before partial legalization, the online pharmacy filled every fourth medical cannabis prescription in Germany

3. 2024

   Removal of cannabis from the Narcotics Act (Betäubungsmittelgesetz) in April; multiplied order volume, expansion of automation, digital warehouse and workforce
