About SCIARA
SCIARA GmbH develops and operates the Climate Time Machine, an interactive online simulation that makes complex climate relationships tangible. In moderated workshops – known as climate time journeys – groups of 5 to 250 participants make virtual decisions in a 2- to 4-hour video conference and see in real time how these affect emissions and climate impacts through the year 2100. The calculation of individual emission values is based on emission factors from the Umweltbundesamt (German Environment Agency), the Hector climate model, IPCC scenarios and the ISIMIP database; the scientific foundation was created in cooperation with the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). The formats are used for sustainability training, team workshops, leadership training, board presentations and events. SCIARA was founded in 2020 in Potsdam as an impact-oriented rather than profit-oriented company and is politically and ideologically independent.
