About Scrimber CSC
Scrimber CSC is further developing the Scrimber technology, with which whole trees – from trunk to crown – are processed into large-format construction products. The products store around one tonne of CO₂ per cubic metre and are intended to enable the avoidance of steel and concrete in building construction. The technology is based on developments from Australia from the 1970s and on experience with bamboo. In an Innosuisse research project led by Prof. Dr. Heiko Thömen at the Bern University of Applied Sciences, the industrial production of Scrimber sticks and their bonding into construction products is being researched. Further partners are the University of Minnesota Duluth, the Fraunhofer WKI Braunschweig and the Wood K plus Competence Centre for Wood in Linz. Scrimber CSC is planning an industrial pilot plant in the Canton of Bern and sells the findings obtained as a licence to the wood industry worldwide.
