About SeeReal Technologies

SeeReal Technologies is a technology company based in Munsbach (Luxembourg) that develops solutions for true holographic 3D displays (H3D) and licenses them to display manufacturers as well as manufacturing and licensing partners. The company was founded in 2002 in Dresden by Dr. Armin Schwerdtner, who previously belonged to an optics research group at TU Dresden. The technology combines phase-modulating display hardware (SLM, including LCoS- or micro-mirror-based), interference-based light modulation, illumination units with laser diodes, hologram-computing software, and eye-tracking integration to reconstruct 3D scenes with all visual depth cues in real 3D space. Core components are patented Sub-Hologram Encoding and the concept of tracked Viewing Windows. Fields of application are automotive (head-up displays), consumer electronics and gaming, medical imaging, and telecommunications (6G). Prototype setups were built, among others, on 20-inch displays in HD resolution. The cooperation with Volkswagen Group Innovation has existed since late 2018; in 2019 the Volkswagen Group acquired a minority stake. In 2024, communications were fully relocated to the Luxembourg office.
