About SEFE Storage
SEFE Storage GmbH, headquartered in Kassel, is one of the largest natural gas storage operators in Europe and holds around 25 percent of Germany's total natural gas storage capacity. The company markets a working gas volume of nearly 6 billion cubic meters, distributed across three storage sites: the Rehden porous storage facility in Lower Saxony with around 4 billion m³ at a depth of 2,000 meters, the Haidach porous storage facility near Salzburg in Austria with around 2.9 billion m³ at a depth of 1,600 meters, and the Jemgum cavern storage facility with around 900 million m³ of working gas volume. The storage facilities serve seasonal balancing and short-term flexibilization of gas procurement; in Jemgum, up to 1 million m³ of gas per hour can be withdrawn. The portfolio includes standard, auction and special products, additional capacities, interruptible services, REMIT storage level reporting as well as transfer services. Marketing is carried out via the PRISMA platform in the Trading Hub Europe (THE) and TTF (Netherlands) market areas.

Storage technology and storage types
Natural gas storage (porous storage)
Storage of natural gas in porous rock formations, e.g. in depleted natural gas reservoirs such as Rehden (2,000 m depth) and Haidach (1,600 m depth).
Natural gas storage (cavern storage)
Artificial cavities in salt domes with operating pressures of up to 250 bar, enabling high injection and withdrawal flexibility as in Jemgum.
