About Selmo Technology
Selmo Technology GmbH is an automation and engineering company based in Söding-St. Johann in Styria. The company offers a patented, internationally granted method and software for the development of machine control systems, in which plant behavior is modeled and approved as a Behavior Reference (BR) prior to implementation. Control code (PLC code in PLCopen XML format), HMI, documentation and data structure are derived from this reference and verified against it. The services include Strategy Workshop, WhiteBox Assessment, PTF & Behavior Reference Pilot, BDM Engineering Projects, Enterprise Transformation and Lifecycle Services as well as Certification & Training, complemented by Selmo Studio, Selmo Standard, Selmo Activation Code and Selmo HMI. The method originated from commissioning practice and is developed and corrected on real plants. It is used, among other things, in automotive supply, welding automation, beverage filling, construction materials and plant engineering – with references such as Velox Werk, igm Robotersysteme, MAHLE Filtersysteme, Cosma Engineering (Magna), thyssenkrupp and AZO.

Methods & Software
Behavior Reference (BR)
Normative process model of machine behavior (states, transitions, interlocks) that is created before the code.
PLC code (PLCopen XML)
Exchange format for the algorithmically derived control code, hardware-independently readable.
Behavior Defined Machine (BDM)
Machine control derived from the reference and verified against it, including HMI, documentation and data structure.
PLC control (Beckhoff TwinCAT 3)
Target platform for derived control code in demo and customer project contexts.
Digital twin
Simulation environment for virtual commissioning on the STEP model prior to real commissioning.
Selmo Studio (license)
Working environment in which the Behavior Reference is created and from which code, HMI, documentation and data structure are derived.
Selmo HMI (Web HMI)
Multilingual web HMI (client/server), derived directly from the model.
Selmo Standard
Open rule set for structuring behavior (states, transitions, operating modes) across plants.

Quality & Verification
Conformity is decided against the approved Behavior Reference: runtime behavior is checked using test and acceptance logic derived from the reference (verification), and changes in operation are logged as Change Verification.
