About the SGB-SMIT Group
The SGB-SMIT Group is a mid-sized transformer manufacturer from Europe focused exclusively on transformers. The product range comprises large power transformers, power transformers, oil distribution transformers, cast resin and dry-type transformers, Lahmeyer compact substations, as well as special transformers and a transformer service for maintenance and repair. The products are used in power distribution and power generation – including power plants, hydropower, solar energy, onshore and offshore wind, oil & gas, biomass and hydrogen generation – as well as in industry, rail, shipping, in buildings and data centers, in charging infrastructure, battery storage systems and shore power connections for ports. The Group was formed in 2008 from Starkstrom-Gerätebau GmbH, founded in 1947, and the transformer factory SMIT Transformatoren B.V., established by Willem Smit in 1913, and employs around 3,800 people. Products tailored to customer requirements and the analysis of specific technical challenges form the core of the offering.
