Shenzhen Tenda Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in 1999 by D.P. Quan and, according to its own statements, is China's first domestic router and wireless network device manufacturer. The company combines research and development, manufacturing and distribution of network communication hardware at one location. The product portfolio includes WLAN routers (Wi-Fi 4 to Wi-Fi 7), mesh systems, switches, xPON ONTs and OLTs, 4G/5G routers, USB adapters as well as IP cameras and network video recorders for private and business networks, service providers and video surveillance. Manufacturing takes place at the Songshan Lake (Dongguan) production base with around 3,000 employees on 120,000 m²; an additional intelligent manufacturing base exists in Changsha Wangcheng. The research centers in Shenzhen, Chengdu, Xi'an and Changsha employ around 1,000 staff according to the company, with more than 3,000 employees in total. Since a strategic partnership with Broadcom (2011), Tenda has used Broadcom chips in its products; the products are distributed in more than 100 countries.
