About Silhouette International Schmied AG

Silhouette International Schmied AG is an Austrian family-owned company based in Linz that develops, manufactures and distributes eyewear frames, sunglasses and optical lenses. The product range includes rimless glasses, full-rim glasses and sunglasses under the company's own Silhouette and evil eye brands; since 2017 the company has operated as a full-range supplier of lenses and frames, with the optical lenses manufactured at its headquarters in Linz. Production uses, among other methods, injection moulding of the patented plastic SPX as well as a flexible titanium alloy from which the screwless and hingeless Titan Minimal Art glasses are made. The Neubau Eyewear brand, founded in 2016, has relied on frames made from bio-based material using 3D printing since 2020. The company employs around 1,300 staff, approximately 700 of them in Linz, and operates a second production site in the Czech Republic. Exports account for 95 percent; the products are available in more than 100 countries.
