The Company

SIMEK Silikat-, Metall- und Kunststofftechnik GmbH is a family-owned company based in Ilmenau (Thuringia) that has been manufacturing gas-tight glass-to-metal feedthroughs, connectors and demanding hermetic packages for electronic components and assemblies since 1963. The proprietary technology of hermetically sealed glass-to-metal fusion reliably prevents the ingress and egress of gases, oils and moisture and protects electronics long-term against contamination, functional impairment and corrosion. The product range includes single and multi-pin feedthroughs, Sub-D and TO glass feedthroughs, multipin baseplates, sight glasses for refrigeration technology, high-voltage and special glass feedthroughs as well as stamped and deep-drawn components. Baseplates and caps are produced in the company's own stamping shop, housings additionally by turning and milling; materials are stainless steel, glass and glass-ceramic. The offering is rounded off by surface finishing, application consulting for material selection and testing services such as leak testing, insulation resistance and dielectric strength testing. Products are used among other things in electrical engineering, telecommunications, sensor and analysis technology, vacuum and refrigeration technology, medical technology as well as in the automotive and aerospace industries.

Materials and Processes

Edelstahl

Stainless steel

Material for housings, baseplates and caps of the feedthroughs, produced by stamping, deep-drawing, turning and milling technology.

Glas

Glass (glass-to-metal fusion)

Used for hermetically sealed, pressure-resistant and acid-resistant feedthroughs and insulators.

Glaskeramik

Glass-ceramic

Used for insulators with high dielectric strength, maximum insulation resistance and minimal leakage currents.

Stanz/Tiefziehen

Stamping and deep-drawing technology

In-house stamping shop produces stamped housings, baseplates, caps and deep-drawn housings.

Drehen/Fräsen

Turned and milled housings

Turning and milling machining of housings including threaded connections, flanges and assemblies.

Veredeln

Surface finishing

Electroless and galvanic finishing as well as tin plating, Pb-free and RoHS-compliant.
