About Sisyphus

Sisyphus is a technology company from Leoben (Austria) that develops a thermochemical reverse water-gas-shift (RWGS) technology. Carbon dioxide is converted with hydrogen into carbon monoxide; the result is renewable CO with purity above 99% or a synthesis gas mixture with hydrogen. The process is based on a proprietary, selective catalyst with low-temperature operation and dynamic electric heating that can use inexpensive off-peak green power; over 95% of the CO2 feedstock is utilized. Target markets are the chemical industry (chemicals, polymers, specialty materials) as well as the production of renewable e-fuels for aviation, shipping and heavy transport; hybrid BtL/PtL concepts with biomass gasification are also being pursued. The founding team combines expertise in catalysis, materials science and process engineering and is affiliated with Montanuniversität Leoben, whose laboratory resources are used. Sisyphus sees itself as a provider of an integrable technology for a circular carbon economy.
