About SLYRS
SLYRS is a whisky distillery founded in 1999 by Florian Stetter in the district of Neuhaus near Schliersee in Upper Bavaria. The company produces single malt whisky in the Bavarian tradition; the name derives from Slyrse, the old Bavarian name for the Schliersee. In addition to the distillery with its stills and barrel hall, SLYRS operates a visitor experience center with tours and tastings as well as an online shop with shipping throughout Germany. In December 2014, a warehouse was inaugurated on the Stümpfling at an altitude of 1501 m, where up to 40 barrels of 225 liters each mature under special climatic conditions. The distillery is run by the Stetter family; according to Wikipedia, with 40,000 to 50,000 visitors it was at that time one of the largest whisky distilleries in Germany in 2011. In 2014, the SLYRS Sherry Edition No 1 received the Gold Award as the best European single malt at the World Whiskies Awards of Whisky Magazine.
