About Smart HMI
Smart-HMI GmbH develops WebIQ, a fully web-based HMI/SCADA system for industrial machine and plant engineering. The platform is consistently based on open standards (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, OPC-UA) and avoids proprietary protocols, allowing users to create their own widgets and libraries independently of any vendor. With the drag-and-drop engineering tool WebIQ Designer, responsive user interfaces can be created without programming knowledge, running equally on machine displays, tablets and smartphones. The runtime acts as a web server and OPC-UA client and, depending on the license, allows any number of parallel client connections; gateways for Modbus and MQTT are available free of charge. The Düsseldorf-based company also supports customers with service packages ranging from training and HMI development, UX and interaction design to PLC integration as well as cybersecurity support. In 2023, Smart HMI was acquired by Beijer Electronics (Ependion AB). Reference customers include Octagon (blown film extrusion), Fecken-Kirfel (cutting technology) and Nedschroef Machinery (metal forming).
