About smart wood
smart wood is a family business founded in 1928 in Saint-Sauveur (France) and produces food-grade wooden sticks made of beech wood. The portfolio includes ice cream sticks (Classic and Paddle in various lengths), coffee stirrers, wooden skewers, confectionery sticks as well as customized and printed sticks. In addition, the company produces beech wood briquettes and wooden tree protection (Protec Tree). The group employs around 1,000 people at 10 factories and 2 distribution centers and produces more than 20 billion sticks per year. It supplies over 300 customers in 50 countries, including the food industry (ice cream), the coffee and vending segment, gastronomy and arts and crafts. Since 2022, the group has consisted of two business units: smart wood for the wood business and smart paper for the paper business (e.g. cardboard cups); the group operates as smart corp.
