About SMH Schrott- und Metallhandels GmbH
SMH Schrott- und Metallhandels GmbH is a medium-sized recycling company headquartered in Erfurt. Together with the Gera site and the affiliated sites in Alsfeld, Grünberg and Merkers, the focus lies on the trading and processing of iron and alloyed scrap as well as metals and their return into the economic cycle. With around 150 employees, delivered scrap is processed into secondary raw materials that serve as feedstock for steelworks and foundries. Processing is carried out with modern scrap processing technology, so that the material can be used directly in the melt; the use of ores is reduced and CO₂ is saved. The service portfolio includes container service (1–40 m³), nationwide logistics with 30 own vehicles, disposal, deconstruction and dismantling, small transports, car recycling as well as the acceptance of recyclables and batteries. As a certified waste management specialist, the company serves customers from steelworks, foundries, construction and municipalities in Thuringia, Saxony and Hesse.
